Cost of a kitchen remodel with wall removal

I’m Steve Root and thank you for the clicking on the google advert for my small business Roots Kitchens Bedrooms Bathrooms.

I’ll guess you’re looking to find out how much a kitchen will cost if you need to knock down a wall? We regularly do this so here’s a quick crib sheet to help.

Cost of a regular kitchen

Now it would be easy to say “it depends” here, but as we design, supply and fit Kitchens Bedrooms and Bathrooms every week in East Kent I can say confidently the total cost of a kitchen, including furniture, worktops, appliances, floor and all installation (removing the old kitchen, plastering, electrics, plumbing, carpentry and decorating) are regularly between:

£25,000 – £60,000

That’s a wide range but if you visit our showroom you can what that difference in cost means to your room, for example the tap can vary from £200 (simple) to £3,000 (boiling water + chilled sparking water).

The cost of removing a wall

Now if you need to take down a wall the cost varies depending on it’s construction and if it’s load bearing (does it hold the rest of your house up).

adds £1,200 – £12,000

Removing a simple stud partition wall that’s not load bearing adds around £2,000 to the cost. If this sounds low, remember that we’ve already covered plastering and other work as part of the kitchen at this point.

A brick built load bearing wall will need steel supports and structural engineers calculations. We arrange all of this and the more complicated rooms have cost up to £12,000 to remove.

In summary, the cost of a kitchen including removing a wall is typically £26,200 – £72,000 but it depends a great deal on what you need and the products you choose.

We make it simple

At Roots we specialise in complete rooms and that includes work like removing walls.

If you’d like to find out more about our kitchen design service please start here. We’re a 25 year old family business that specialises in the design, supply and installation of complete rooms. We take responsibility for every skilled trade so you can enjoy your kitchen.

If you’d like to start by viewing pretty pictures of rooms we’ve fitted (real rooms, not manufacturer photoshopped images) we have a gallery on Houzz.

You can Meet the Rooties here. That’s my brother David who looks after the jobs in progress. Margaret, Alex and Rachel are our talented designers and many of our fitters too.

You can visit our showroom between Faversham and Canterbury

Perhaps best of all

We’re a small business. There are no sales, no finance offers and no fancy marketing. If we have the right products and service for you (and I hope we do) then I’d like you to know that we’re here to help with the products we’ve supplied throughout their working life. Here’s an example of helping a customer with an oven door that inspired a youtube video that has now helped over 100,000 people. At Roots we work really hard to make your room perfect.

Thanks for visiting,

Steve
